Artist
Brief info
Mikey Dread (born Michael Campbell in 1954 in Port Antonio, Jamaica; passed away in 2008) was a highly influential reggae artist, producer, and pioneering radio DJ. He began his career at the Jamaica Broadcasting Corporation (JBC) in 1976, where his radio show "Dread At The Controls" became the top reggae program on the island due to its focus on roots reggae and fresh revolutionary music—a rarity at the time. Mikey's unique broadcasting style, including his distinctive voice and creative jingles recorded at King Tubby’s studio, made his show a cultural staple in Jamaica.
